Wow, i have been in test-taking hell for the past 3 hours! Ok, ok, so it wasnt THAT bad, but still not that great either. For those of you who don't get what im talking about, allow me to elaborate: I have taken 3 advanced placement classes (AP) this year in school, and if i pass the xams for each one at the end of the year, then i get college credit. Well, its the end of the year, and time to put my skills to the TEST! (told you there'd be more! lol)
Anywho, i just got out of the testing room for AP U.S. History not that long ago, my first AP exam ever, and quite easily the hardest test ive ever taken in my life. I tried to pace myself, like we learned in class, to 40 seconds per multiple choice question (there are 80 questions and only 50 minutes), but i still had a few blank left over when time was up. Then there were 3 essays we had to write in only an hour and 50 minutes, but i spent too much time planning my first one (the document based question), and so i was THIS CLOSE to not finishing all three. Though if its one thing im proud of, its that i even DID finish. Not only was my arm cramping like the dickens, AND i was the last person to finish, AND everyone was literally staring at me, including the test prompter, but it must have been some sort of miracle because i managed to write 2 complete essays in less than 35 minutes! TWO! If youve ever written a normal essay, some kind of random topic in english class or something, that probably took you at least 20 minutes. Then multiply the hardness level by 10 and THATS how hard an AP History essay is. So that takes even more time, which i didnt have! So, again, i couldnt be prouder that i at LEAST finished them, though i might suffer some internal bleeding in that arm over time. haha
Right now im at Texas Road House, which is where everyone in all the APUSH classes went for the after-party, which was kinda fun an awkward at the same time. I sat with Arielle (my graduation's valedictorian, as well as my french teacher's daughter) and a whole bunch of other acquaintances. I didnt really know anybody there very well, not to mention the fact that though i liked everyone at my table, they made me feel like the dumb kid of AP. They didnt mean to or anything, but they were going over what information they used in their essays and whenever i rarely chimed in theyd say "No, that wasnt in the right time-frame. You didnt really use that, did you?". Then id pretend i simply forgot about that and no, i hadnt used it in my essay, even though i actually did. You dont get counted off for mis-information like that, but it still made me feel pretty low.
I kinda feel bad for my friend, Paige, too. She said she thinks she rocked on the multiple choice, but also left like 1-3 blank, which is fine, but she didnt even get to start her last essay. That means, at least from what ive heard, that the best she could get is like a 2, which isnt passing, and possibly not even a high two since she said that she kindof BS'ed the second essay and didnt have much info. But we wont know for a while how we did anyway, right, so wish us both luck! Maybe ill at LEAST get a 3, which is enough credit to pass.
Stay Nifty! ;)
