Now that it's officially the end of the school year, ive come to find out (too late, i might add) that ALL of my best friends are seniors. I never actually realized how many of my friends were seniors until today, when i walked into almost every class to discover a menagerie of empty seats where all my favorite classmates once sat. In the infamous words of one of my favorite teachers, Mr. Markum, Theyve all been Nsync'ed: They're "Gooone!" lol
Im going to miss them all sooooooo much, and these last few days of school are going to seem nearly empty and meaningless without all these magnificent people. Unluckily for me, that new high school is opening up just down the street from me, which means even a lot of my classmates that ARENT seniors are leaving me, too! So allow me to take this moment to reflect on all my friends who are, unfortunately, leaving me behind:
-Scott
-Paige
-Drew
-Tiffany
-Rebbekah
-Kyle
-DJ
-Brittany
-Cedric
-Christina S
-Loretta
-TJ
-Janina
-Amanda
-Bianca
-LyQuyen
Among these people are not only my friends, but truly beneficiaries to our School Community. Scott was salutitorian (2nd highest grades for entire graduating class!) and Drama Club Pointskeeper. Drew was named "Best Artist" of the entire graduating class, got into the Senior Hall of Fame, and was president of the Drama Club, Schools 4 Schools, and was extremely active in band and colorguard. Rebbekah was FCCLA president, Drama club Costumes Coordinator, and got into the Senior Hall of Fame. Paige was President of Eco Force and Drama Club Historian. Tiffany was Chorus President (and All Star), winner of Mr Markum's heralded "Bloody Shirt" award in APUSH, and Senior Hall of Famer. Not only does this prove that I, personally, have impeccable taste in friends, but it also just goes to show what a sensational mass of talent my school will be missing out on next year. These friends of mine have not only left behind a big peice of themselves in my heart, they have left behind a legacy that cannot easily be replaced in this or any lifetime. For all you wonderful seniors, I wish you only the best of luck in college and in life, and thank you for giving me high standards to live towards :)
Since im now in "reflection mode", i might as well confess that i feel like my entire high school career is hitting me especially hard all at once. Next year i'll be a senior. How scary is that? Next week im taking my SAT, soon i'll be posing for my senior portraits, then i'll be getting a summer job, and getting a car and actually DRIVING, then ill have to buy my cap and gown, my yearbook, my tickets for homecoming and prom, dresses and limo's and haircuts and makeup; its all too much to bear! Summer days will just blur together and suddenly i'll be meeting all my new teachers and before i can even blink it'll all be over!! It scares me to death, i tell ya. Every day im getting closer and closer to filling out forms for college acceptance and scholarships, closer and closer to getting my diploma, closer and closer to going to college, closer and closer to moving out, closer and closer to actually having to CHOOSE a career, closer and closer to a home and a husband and children, its all enough to sicken me to my stomach.
I know this is all paranoid ramble, but there are just SO mnay things that i wish i could do over. When i finally get to the point of graduation, im going to stop and wonder: Could my grades have been better? Could i have been more outgoing and friendly? Could i have done more extra-curiculars? Could i have taken different classes? Could i have taken time to appreciate the little things? Could i have stopped to think about what i want to do with my life? Could i have saved more for college, house payments, and career training?
Stressing myself out? Yeah, i think i am. But if i didnt stop to wonder, it'd all pass me by, one day after another until Boom: I'M the one leaving the nest.
(PS: I think ive finally figured out what my shout-outs are gonna be! Instead of simply "stay nifty", every day will be a different word, mainly based on whatever the blog was about for that day. Not only is it a catchy and unique sign-off, it signifies the advice that i can make for myself and my audience. Today will be the first)
Stay Contemplative! ;)
